For Your Information:
*Core Extension classes are rotating through mini-classes. 8th graders will have math and science in the afternoon for extended periods and 7th graders will have social studies and language arts for extended periods in the afternoon.
*Envelopes for Great America were passed out on Monday, April 18. Money and envelope are due May 19th.
*8th grade dance, for Julian 8th graders only, is Saturday, May 28 in the Julian Commons. Dance tickets are $10 in advance, and will be sold at lunch on May 25, 26, and 27, and $15 at the door. Dance begins at 7:00 PM and ends at 10:00 PM. You must arrive before 7:30 in order to be admitted. Attire should be age appropriate dresses for girls and nice pants, shirt, and tie for boys. Watch for further details.
*All math classes will have a Final Exam that begins on Tuesday, May 31. If needed, time will be allotted to finish on Thursday, June 2. Final exams will count for a regular test grade. You will be allowed to have
a note card and use a calculator, so start studying now.
*The last day for lunch study sessions is Thursday, May 27.
*No School - Monday, May 30 – Memorial Day
*End of year trips – Wednesday, June 1
*Career Day – Monday, June 6. If you are interested in presenting at our Career Day, please contact the school for more information.
*Graduation – Monday, June 6 at OPRF at 7:30 PM
*Please review the dress code on pages 15 and 16 of your child’s planner with your child. With the warmer weather we are seeing lots of student’s dressed inappropriately.
*I received a letter this week from OPRF that states that all Freshman enrolled in a math class will be required to purchase a TI-Nspire touchpad or TI-Nspire CX calculator. This is different from the TI-84 plus that
your older child may have used. This calculator is legal to use on all standardized tests, including the ACT and SAT. The OPRF bookstore will sell this calculator at a competitive price of $147.83. When I was at the math convention I had an opportunity to see and use this calculator. It will be a great asset to students, especially when problem-solving.
Parents, please take a few minutes to review this with your child so you will know what is expected for this week. Also, be aware that sometimes things arise and we do not always accomplish what we have planned.
